Raising awareness and providing direct support to Black men facing prostate cancer.
Background
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men.
Black men are 1.7 times more likely to get the disease and 2.1 times more likely to die from the disease than white men.
17 Black men die of prostate cancer EVERY DAY.
Finding prostate cancer at its earliest stage offers the best hope for living cancer free.
Men need to get a simple PSA blood test to determine if they are at risk: NO ONE SHOULD DIE OF PROSTATE CANCER
Objective
Drive awareness and disease education of prostate cancer among black men and recruit/encourage them to self-advocate as group leaders to promote the importance of testing/screening
Further promote key stakeholder support to reduce this health disparity among the Black community
